A carer and toddler group is a support group where parents and carers can meet and develop friendships in an exclusive and friendly environment while the children play and socialise together.
Each carer or parent is responsible for his or her child at all times.
What are the advantages of a carer and toddler group?
1. Children get to interract with others, yet have their parent/carer close by-good for building confidence
2. The group provides a stepping stone for children preparing to go to playgroup.
For parents the advantages are ;
1. Carer and toddler groups give the parents the chance to play with his/her child away from domestic distractions.
2. The group provides a support network locally.
How the group works;
1. Parents and carers look after their own children - It is not a creche.
2. Cost per family is €3 or what you can afford.
3. Children must be accompanied to the toilet by the parent, carer or an adult nominated by the parent/carer.
4. Children are not allowed in the kitchen or on the balcony where toys are stored.
5. Parents and carers are asked to play an active role in the group.
